Moving from Dubai to Hong Kong
Hong Kong is one of the most demanding destinations we move to, and almost all of the difficulty is access rather than distance. Fusion Relocations has managed international household moves out of the UAE since 2010, and a move to Hong Kong is handled end to end by one coordinator: export packing at your home in Dubai, freight, customs formalities at both ends, and delivery to your new address.
Access is the whole job in Hong Kong
Hong Kong is built vertically on very little land, and that shapes every part of a move into it. Residential buildings are tall and narrow, service lifts are small and heavily booked, and many older blocks on Hong Kong Island and in Kowloon have lifts that will not take a three-seat sofa or a wardrobe in one piece. Streets in the older districts do not admit a full-size vehicle, so a shuttle from a holding point is routine rather than exceptional.
None of that is a problem when it is known before anything is packed. All of it is a problem when it is discovered by a crew on the morning of the move. We survey specifically for lift dimensions, corridor turns, door widths and vehicle access, and we agree the plan — shuttle, hoist, or dismantle and rebuild — while there is still time to arrange it.
Apartments are smaller than what you are leaving
This is the single most common surprise for people moving from Dubai. A household that fits comfortably in a Dubai villa or a spacious Marina apartment will not fit into a typical Hong Kong flat. That has a direct consequence for the shipment: it is usually worth deciding what is genuinely coming before the survey, because shipping furniture that will not fit into the destination and then storing or disposing of it there is the most expensive way to make that decision.
Where you are not sure, storage in Dubai while you see the property is normally cheaper than storage in Hong Kong, and far cheaper than a second move once you arrive.
Building rules
Most managed buildings require a booked move-in slot, a certificate of insurance from the moving company, and protection fitted to lift interiors and corridors. Some restrict moves to weekdays or to specific hours. Our destination partner deals with the building management before the day rather than at reception on it.
