Industrial Packaging Built to Protect — Not Just Contain
The packaging of industrial machinery and technical equipment is an engineering task — not a packing task. The crate must be designed to bear the weight of the equipment, resist the stresses of multi-modal transport, and protect against the humidity and temperature swings that occur during ocean freight. A crate that fails on any of these dimensions can result in a complete write-off of equipment worth hundreds of thousands of dirhams.
Fusion Relocations designs and builds industrial packaging in-house at our Dubai facility. Our workshop team has experience with equipment ranging from CNC machine tools and medical imaging systems to oil field instruments, printing press components, and large-format exhibition structures. Every crate is engineered to the weight, centre of gravity, fragility, and transport mode of the specific item — not adapted from a standard template.
All industrial packaging work is carried out to the requirements of ISO 9001:2015 and the applicable ISPM 15 phytosanitary standards for timber packaging in international trade — a mandatory requirement for all wooden crates and pallets moving across international borders.

Our Industrial Packaging Process
Engineered at Every Stage
Every industrial packaging project follows a structured engineering process — from technical consultation to loading and dispatch. Nothing is improvised on the day.
Technical Consultation
We review the equipment specifications — dimensions, weight, centre of gravity, fragility classification, and the proposed transport route. For complex items, our workshop manager visits your site to assess the equipment and the access constraints for removal and loading.
Crate Design & Engineering
Our workshop team designs the crate or skid mount to the specific requirements of the item — timber specification, internal bracing layout, suspension system, access panel positioning, and forklift entry points. For heavy items, a load-bearing calculation is completed before construction begins.
ISPM 15 Timber Preparation
All timber is sourced as heat-treated ISPM 15-certified material and marked accordingly. This is a non-negotiable requirement for any crate or pallet crossing an international border — failure to comply results in seizure at destination customs.
Equipment Preparation
Before crating, the equipment is prepared — draining of fluids where required, securing of moving parts, VCI (Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor) film application for metal components susceptible to corrosion during ocean freight, and desiccant placement for humidity control.
Crating & Packing
The crate is built around the equipment — not the equipment forced into a pre-built box. Internal foam suspension, blocking, bracing, and shock-absorbing mounts are fitted per the design. Shock and tilt indicators are applied where specified. The crate is closed, strapped, and marked with handling instructions.
Loading, Documentation & Dispatch
The crated equipment is loaded onto the appropriate transport — truck, flatbed, or container — using forklift or crane as required. All export documentation, packing lists, and freight forwarding instructions are coordinated by our team before dispatch from Dubai.

What is ISPM 15 and why does it matter?
ISPM 15 (International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures No. 15) is the international standard governing the treatment of wooden packaging material used in international trade. All timber crates and pallets crossing international borders must be made from ISPM 15 heat-treated timber and marked with the official IPPC logo. Shipments with non-compliant timber packaging are seized and either fumigated at the exporter’s expense, or destroyed, at the destination country’s discretion. All timber packaging produced in our workshop is ISPM 15 compliant.
Can you package equipment that is still installed on-site?
Yes — on-site crating is a standard part of our service. Our team brings all materials and tools to your location. For equipment bolted to factory floors or mounted in racks, we coordinate the de-installation sequence with your engineering team before packaging begins.
How do you handle very heavy machinery — 5 tonnes or more?
Heavy machinery is skidded onto engineered timber or steel skid mounts — designed to distribute the load evenly and provide forklift entry points in the correct position for the equipment’s centre of gravity. For machinery above 10 tonnes, we coordinate specialist heavy lift contractors for loading onto flatbed or into a container. Contact us with dimensions and weight and we will advise on the approach.
Do you handle dangerous goods?
We work with licensed dangerous goods consultants to classify and document hazardous materials within shipments where applicable — including batteries, certain solvents, compressed gas components, and radioactive instruments. Classification, MSDS documentation, and IATA/IMDG labelling are coordinated as part of the service. Contact us for a consultation on your specific equipment.
Can you manage the full export including freight and customs?
Yes. We work with licensed freight forwarders to manage the complete export — UAE customs export declaration, Bill of Lading, freight booking, and coordination with the destination agent. For clients who have their own freight forwarder, we provide the packaged equipment ready for collection with all packing lists and export documentation.
Do you package for air freight as well as ocean freight?
Yes. Air freight packaging requirements differ significantly from ocean freight — weight limits, dimensional restrictions, and handling by airline ground crew all affect the packaging specification. We design air freight crates and skids accordingly, including compliance with IATA dangerous goods packaging requirements where applicable.
